The Kingdom of the Wetlands is a regional Amtgard group made up of multiple sub-chapters.
The Wetlands is a central Texas/Western Louisiana Amtgard group with 12 chapters spanning north to Tyler, TX, south to Hitchcock, TX, East to Lake Charles, LA, and west to College Station, TX.
Each sub-group (called a province) meets at a public park in town, and meetings are open to the public. We encourage people to come ask questions and participate. Each group has elected officers that take care of the running of the club and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
A listing of our Kingdom provinces and other Amtgard groups can be found on the Amtgard Atlas. Look around, and then come visit one of our local groups.
Our next special event is the Kingdom Coronation Celebration on June 10-12. If you have any questions or would like more info, feel free to visit the Wetlands Kingdom Forums.
Hello and welcome to the world of Amtgard!
Amtgard is a world-wide organization dedicated to medieval and fantasy combat sports and recreation. We use padded 'weapons', fantasy and authentic clothing, as well as imagination to immerse in players in a world of heroic combat.
With our live action combat and role-play, you can fight with foam-padded boffer weapons, and even play the part of a fierce barbarian, a powerful wizard, a tactical warrior, a healer, and much more.
Amtgard is also a great environment for you to explore your creative side with a broad range of skills ranging from armoring and sewing to painting and singing, and anything in between.
No matter if your interest is competitive sports fighting, finding an outlet for your creative talents, or wanting to hone your leadership skills, Amtgard has something to offer you!
Details to these events as well as any local events can be found on the Wetlands Kingdom Forums

The origins of heraldry from the need to distinguish participants in combat when their faces were hidden by iron and steel helmets. Eventually a formal system of rules developed into ever more complex forms of heraldry.
The system of that is used in English-speaking countries today was developed by the officers of arms in the Middle Ages. This includes a stylized description of the shield, the crest, and, supporters, mottoes, and other insignia if present. Certain rules apply, and an understanding of these rules is a key to the art of heraldry. The rules and terminology differ from country to country; indeed several national styles had developed by the end of the Middle Ages, but there are some aspects that carry over internationally.
Here in Amtgard, we are not as strict and do not fault anyone for choosing heraldry thad does not follow the formal rules. This is a club, and we want everyone to have fun. However, it is considered bad taste and form to select heraldry that immitates heraldry already in use.
Though heraldry is nearly 900 years old, it is still very much in use. Many cities and towns in Europe and around the world still make use of arms. Personal heraldry, both legally protected and lawfully assumed, has continued to be used around the world. Heraldic societies still exist to promote education and understanding about the subject.
